Do I need underlayment?
Underlayment is only recommended in certain situations. If the space is being used for yoga, aerobics, or general workout areas, a 3 mm underlayment works well to add extra cushion. However, for larger spaces or sports like basketball or pickleball, it’s not recommended since it can soften the ball bounce more than most customers want. The tiles perform great installed directly over concrete, but if ball bounce isn’t a concern, underlayment can still be used to help soften impact.
