Rolls

Standard garage rolls are designed to cover your whole floor with a sturdy, low-maintenance surface. Most garage roll flooring has a standard width but can be custom cut to fit the length of your garage. If you don’t want full coverage, and just want to install flooring in a smaller area, you can purchase a custom length for that as well.

Garage Mats

Garage mat rolls are designed to protect the floor directly under your vehicle. They can handle all the mud, water, and snow that drips from your tires, preventing a big mess on your floor. You have options for the right mat, depending on your vehicle.

Garage Grip Non-Slip Floor Mats: These large containment mats capture all the water and dirt from your vehicle and prevent it from draining onto the floor.

Oil Spill Mats: These mats provide the perfect parking spot for your bike, car, or truck. Simply roll out the mat, and you’re ready to go!

Garage Roll Material

Vinyl

Vinyl is very flexible and durable, making it ideal for garage use. On top of that, this material is easy to clean. You can pull the roll outside and hose it down when it gets dirty. Vinyl garage rolls do expand and contract with changes in temperature, and while they are stain-resistant, they’re not completely stain-proof.

Polyester

For carpeted garage rolls, you can expect a polyester carpet fiber. Also known as PET, Polyester is incredibly durable and boasts high color retention, so it will look great even after lots of use. This fiber is ideal for the garage because it is very resistant to water and highly stain resistant.

Garage Roll Installation

Garage rolls are easy to install. They are large and heavy enough to lie flat under their own weight, so you don’t need to tape or glue them down.

Some rules of thumb when installing these rolls:

  1. Let the roll acclimate. Make sure you unroll the floor for at least 24 hours.
  2. Acclimate the roll upside down. This will help to take the curl out of the roll. You may need to apply some pressure to the roll to release all the curls and waves.
  3. If flooring a whole room, leave at least a ¼” expansion gap between the roll and any walls or obstacles. These floors will expand and contract with temperature changes, so ensure you leave sufficient room for the floor to expand.
  4. Install during the warmest part
  5. Make all cuts with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.

If you find the mat is moving when driving in and out of your driveway, you can use a pressure-sensitive adhesive around the edge of the mat or double-sided tape.

Garage Roll Maintenance

Garage rolls are very easy to maintain, so you can spend more time using your garage and less time worrying about the floor. Check out these tips for different types of garage rolls.

Vinyl Garage Rolls

To clean off a vinyl roll, simply use a broom or garden hose or mop with a mild soap and water solution. One issue that may occur with these rolls is staining. There are a couple of possible causes for this.

  • Street tar: This will make marks on any surface. Street tar staining is easily fixed with a cleaner called Purple Power.
  • Tire stains: Not to be confused with street tar, this staining is caused by certain types of tires. Typically these are higher-end sport tires that cause a chemical reaction with the floor, creating a nasty, yellow stain that cannot be cleaned. Tire stains are most obvious in lighter colors, so a good solution is to get a black or darker colored mat that won’t show the staining.

Carpet Garage Rolls

To keep your carpet clean, make sure to vacuum frequently, preferably with a vacuum that doesn’t have a beater bar. Any spills should be blotted up immediately with an absorbent cotton cloth and clean water. Periodic deep cleans with a hot water extraction-cleaning machine (I.E. carpet cleaner) can keep your flooring looking great for longer.

“It was very easy to install. I purchased the double-sided tape but did not need it. After about 30 days the roll humps flattened out. Even though we frequently drive our SUV in and out, the mats are stable and do not move. I have only had to clean the mats one time. I have recommended this flooring to several of my friends.”

“I wanted both a moisture barrier over the concrete floor and something that would be easy to clean the occasional oil and other fluid drips. The flooring looks great and is very easy to wipe up any fluids that leak. It was flexible enough that it laid completely flat immediately upon rolling it out. I didn't use any adhesive and see no need for it.”
